The World Mosquito Program’s innovation saves lives

Join us in responding to the global crisis of Zika, dengue fever and other mosquito-borne diseases by donating now.

We have already run successful field trials of our innovative method and are now expanding our international efforts, to combat these diseases. Our method uses naturally occurring bacteria - called Wolbachia – to reduce the ability of mosquitoes to transmit harmful human viruses such as Zika, dengue and chikungunya.

Our approach is safe, sustainable, and has been recommended for further pilot deployments by the World Health Organization in response to global Zika outbreaks. The World Mosquito Program operates as a not-for-profit initiative with two regional hubs – our Asia hub in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Oceania hub, based at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Through your gift, you are joining other philanthropists, governments and communities and helping us develop a low-cost, sustainable method to reduce the transmission of mosquito-borne viruses.

Your donation can enable:

$500:  25 mosquito traps, needed to monitor the number of mosquitoes with Wolbachia in a release site
$1,500:  40 mosquito cages, which is enough to produce all the mosquitoes required for releases across a city
$3,000:  Do-it-yourself mosquito release containers for an entire neighbourhood to release mosquitoes with Wolbachia
$5,000:  A medically-trained staff member to work in a fever clinic for 3 months to give back to a community
$10,000:  Training for 6 members of a local team to enhance their capacity to implement our Wolbachia method
Other:  You contribute to our philanthropy fund helping disease proof communities
